Summertime is around the corner and temperatures are heating up around the country, so much so that in Marion County there having their annual debate. The debate is about whether or not the county commission should turn on the air conditioning in the courthouses. The Marion County Commission every year wrestles with this question, because switching there old system from heating to cooling takes to long.

Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode told Western District Commissioner Steve Begley said “Once the air is on it stays on until November,” and he went on to say further “I think you need to wait because all next week it will be in the 60s and low 70s,” he said. “We don’t want to turn the air on and then a week later everybody wanting the heat back on. It’s not that easy of a (changeover) process.” The main problem here is that the courthouse should have a more efficient heating/cooling system in place that can be switched easily.
